About Us
Alex's Barn was established in 2013, it was based on a little shop that I used to go to when I was a bit younger, the shop was 'a little treasure trove, a haven of all things nice', it was the type of shop where I could spend hours looking at stuff, maybe its because I am a nick nack person, I love looking at things like notebooks, jewelry, handbags and hand painted tables.
'Alex's Barn' is based at my home, the business is located in our barn, the barn is well over 100 years old, and it has seen a lot of things happen in it over the years, it was a shame not do use such a charming old building, so hopefully I will create another good chapter in the history of 'the barn'. Throughout the years my father renovated it, now its my turn to give it a bit of TLC. Years ago it was my great uncle Alec who owned the barn, it wasn’t in good condition then as it is now. One night after a thunder storm Alec said that he got the electric and water in one the one day, so you can imagine the state it was in. He was a character so to honour him I called my business 'Alex's Barn'.
The business is based on the belief that our customers’ needs are of the utmost importance. We aim to provide good quality items at affordable prices. We are committed to meeting those needs as we aim to make our customer service our first priority. As a result a high percentage of our business is from repeat customers and referrals.
At Alex's Barn we offer a wide range of new, and good quality items, ranging from giftware to homeware, jewelry to handbags, scarves and soft furnishings, we offer items that are different, and quirky, items that are traditional and retro, items that you don’t always see on the high street.
We also stock some pre-loved, up cycled pieces of hand painted furniture, which are limited to being on display and for sale in shop only.
We might be only a small shop, but we have been described as 'a mini department store', we have a wee bit of everything.
